ELLSWORTH — Several Hancock County inns and motels will be offering “Hospitality for Habitat” to visiting guests, a program sponsored by The Maine Innkeepers Association, which raises funds for Habitat for Humanity projects all over Maine.
The program, which is in its fifth year, will run from May 1 to May 23 this spring and offers visitors a 50 percent discount off regular room rates in exchange for a $35 donation to Habitat for Humanity. “We are pleased to participate with our guests in such a worthy cause,” said Sally Littlefield of Oakland House Seaside Resort in Brooksville, one of the participants in the program. “We understand that each home Habitat volunteers build makes a huge difference in someone’s life. Our guests appreciate that in return for their donation to Habitat for Humanity they can enjoy a vacation at half the regular room rate. It’s a win-win; great rates for a great cause.” Oakland House Seaside Resort will join over 30 participating members of The Maine Innkeepers Association to help build houses for low-income families. Other Hancock County inns and motels participating in the program include the Black Friar Inn, the Graycote Inn and the Mira Monte Inn in Bar Harbor, Bass Harbor Country Cottages and Country Inn in Bass Harbor, the Blue Hill Inn in Blue Hill, the Pilgrim’s Inn in Deer Isle, the Twilite Motel in Ellsworth and the Orland House B&B in Orland. In 2007, Hospitality for Habitat raised $6,240 and helped provide housing for deserving families in Maine. To participate in Hospitality for Habitat, please make reservations in advance and receive a 50 percent discount off regular rates. The tax-deductible donation for $35 should be made out to Habitat for Humanity in the form of a check and given to the innkeeper. |
